“First visit to Luz and very much up to our expectations,
We have stayed in Alvor many times before and Luz seems perhaps even quieter - just fine by us! Don’t think it would suit anyone looking for a wild party experience.
Some very nice restaurants for lunch and can particularly recommend the lattes at Studio Coffee.
Nice walk to Burgau and back and impressed with low cost local bus fares - went to Lagos twice and also Burgau (again) on the bus (walked back) all cost 1.60 euros each single.
Last holiday in Alvor 2019 the bus fare to Lagos was in the region of 4-5 euros for a single ticket.
Some great views from the promenade seats and sea looked good although we didn’t go in.
Local supermarkets (Spar and Baptista) well stocked and welcome as we ate in most evenings.
Overall Luz felt a very safe and welcoming resort and we would definitely consider returning there again.”

“Luz ist ein kleiner Ferienort, der stark von Briten dominiert wird. Der Strand ist weitläufig und im Oktober auch nicht sehr voll. Die meisten liegen mit Badetuch im Sand, man kann aber auch zwei Liegen mit einem Schirm mieten (ca. 12-15 €/Tag).

Zwei größere Supermärkte (täglich geöffnet) sind von der FeWo aus fussläufig erreichbar. Das kulinarische Angebot in den Restaurants ist leider etwas eingeschränkt und orientiert sich bis auf wenige Ausnahmen an Fast Food (Pommes, Burger, Pizza, englisch breakfast usw.), was aber auch im 6 km entfernten Lagos nicht viel anders ist. Aber es gibt (auch in Luz) ein paar wenige gute Lokalitäten mit portugiesischen oder internationalen Gerichten oder moderner Küche mit frischen Zutaten und viel Kreativität. Luz hat zum Glück kein lautes „Nachtleben“, sondern man sitzt abends in einer Bar oder direkt an den Klippen bis zum Sonnenuntergang. Das Publikum war meist 40 plus, zuzüglich einiger junger Familien mit Kleinkindern. Uns hat die ruhige, entspannte Atmosphäre gefallen, manch anderem mag‘s vielleicht zu langweilig sein.

Von Luz aus führen Wanderwege/Trampelpfade (festes Schuhwerk ist in einigen Abschnitten sinnvoll) zu beiden Seiten oberhalb des Meeres in die Nachbarorte, unterwegs mit vielen schönen Ausblicken. Ansonsten ist Luz guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge aller Art, auch ins Hinterland.”
