Comfortable Apartment in Pommerby with private parking and wonderful view
Enjoy some time out at the beautiful historical Pommerby school over 200 years old, between the Baltic Sea (1.5km) and the Geltinger Birk nature reserve (2km). Relax at one of four apartments in the Georg Asmussen house. You can swim in the calm or choppy sea, collect shells and stones on the fine sandy beach, or go on walks along the beach, lie in the sunshine or watch the children playing, go on walks and observe birds, Highland cattle and wild horses, cycle on the many cycle paths along the Baltic Sea, or perhaps just relax in the garden or make yourselves comfortable in the house in front of the fireplace, or perhaps a home film evening on the big flatscreen TV with a selection of DVDs and Blu-rays. Welcome to this beautiful thatched house!
The garden has a sitting corner with four garden chairs, a table and parasol for this apartment, amidst blossoming plants and fruit trees.
This apartment is ideal for 2 people (+ 2). The two-room apartment of around 50m² is on the upper floor of the beautiful thatched house. The new living room-kitchen (2016) has a new and modern built-in kitchen with high-quality appliances inviting you cook, a dining space for 3 people, a cosy lounge corner with new seating furniture for up to 3 people (a sofa bed and an armchair) and satellite TV. The very big bedroom has a double bed with new mattresses (2016), a reading corner or desk and a second satellite TV. There is a daylight bathroom. A highchair, children’s travel bed and inflatable bed can be booked free of charge. A hand cart is available for trips to the beach. Your holiday house, Georg Asmussen house (Pommerby old school) was built in 1798 (recorded for the first time in 1804) as a Danish school. It was used as a school until 1966. It is the birth house of the author, engineer and social reformer Georg Asmussen (1856-1933). See also the Internet page of the Pommerby municipality. We purchased this house in 2015 and brought it up to modern-day standards, whilst preserving its historical charm. The apartments were extensively renovated and converted in 2015/2016. Each apartment has individual and comfortable furnishing and has two satellite TVs (in the living room and in one of the bedrooms). The new built-in kitchens are equipped with high-quality appliances. The exposed original pitch pine floorboards exude a pleasant cosiness. The new and comfortable seating matches the style of the house well. You can make yourselves comfortable here in front of a crackling fire in the fireplace or the TVs. The house has a 40m² stairwell area, affording a wonderful view of meadows and fields from the upper floor of the stairwell and comprising a utility room and a room with a washing machine and dryer that every guest can use free of charge. In the stairwell basement there are two shelves with a selection of books, games, DVD and Blu-rays (also 3D). Wi-Fi, heating, electricity and water are included.
Pommerby is a recognised recreational area between the Baltic Sea and the Geltinger Birk nature reserve. You can swim in the Baltic Sea. There is a nudist beach about 2km away, a beach monitored by the DLRG about 3km away, as well as two indicated dog beaches (about 2km and 4km away). At the Geltinger Birk nature reserve you can go walking and birdwatching (e.g. cormorants, fish eagles, wild geese…) and admire original nature. The Fälshöft lighthouse about 2km away, where over 300 couples a year get married, as well as the Charlotte mill can be used as starting points for interesting walks through the Geltinger Birk. The many hiking and cycling paths through wonderful nature along the Baltic Sea or through meadows and fields invite you to go on leisurely walks and cycle tours. You can find good restaurants in Pommerby and Gelting (3.5km). For everyday essentials, Gelting has a bakery, butcher, post office, supermarket, pharmacy and doctors. Sailing enthusiasts will find plenty of opportunities to pursue their sport. There are yacht harbours in Gelting, Wackerballig and Maasholm, which also has a sailing school. Trip destinations in the area include Kappeln - a quaint little town by the Schlei with steam boat rides, Maasholm – a little historical fishing village by the Schlei estuary, the nature experience centre in Maasholm, Flensburg – a town with picturesque alleys, historical houses and museums, and a lovely central harbour not far from the very long pedestrian zone with quaint shops, bars and good restaurants, the Förde Therme in Glücksburg, Schleswig – the Viking town, Gottorf castle with a baroque garden, Haithabu the Viking settlement, the museum village Unewatt, the Bismarckturm in Quern (viewing platform), golf courses in Glücksburg and Rabenkirchen, as well as trips across the border into Denmark.
